Guideline Hourly Rates

The Master of the Rolls decided to delay a decision as to whether there would be any increase in the guideline hourly rates for 2010 until after the publication of the Jackson Report.
I guess there may be some delay in the notification of any new hourly rates as the report was only published on 14th January but in the meantime there is no reason why you should not increase the hourly rates in private client and CFA matters in order to avoid any danger of falling foul of the indemnity principle if and when increased rates are published for 2010.
If you have any complex cases where you may want to charge a higher rate remember to take this into account when agreeing a retainer and writing to clients to advise them about any increase.
If you would like to have a word about hourly rates or indeed any other costs issues, please do not hesitate to contact me.
